Prompt templates: 12 reusable prompts with fill-in blanks
Most of what you ask an AI, you ask more than once. A prompt template is a prompt that already works, with the parts that change left blank — so next time you type a few words instead of the whole thing.
What makes a good template
A template fixes everything that makes the answer good — the task, the shape of the answer, the limits — and leaves blank only what changes from one use to the next. The blanks go in square brackets, named for what belongs there.
write email to landlord about the heating
Write a professional email to [recipient] about [topic]. Keep it short and polite, and end with a clear next step.
Three rules keep a template reusable:
- One job per template. Summarizing and replying are two templates, not one with a switch in it.
- Name every blank.
[audience]tells you what to type.[x]doesn't, a month later. - Say what the answer should look like. Five bullet points, under 150 words, a table: the format is what makes the answer useful every time, not just once.
Some templates end in a colon. That is where the material goes: paste the text, code or notes right after it.
12 templates to copy
These come from the 48 presets built into Prompt AI Keyboard, two from each topic. Use them as they are, or as the starting point for your own.
Writing
Write a professional email to [recipient] about [topic]. Keep it short and polite, and end with a clear next step.
Write a reply to the message below. I want to [my answer]. Keep it warm, clear and brief, and match the tone of the original:
Study
Explain [topic] in simple terms, as if I were 12 years old. Use an everyday example.
Quiz me on [topic] with ten questions, one at a time. Wait for my answer, then tell me if I was right and why.
Coding
I get this error in my [language] project: [error]. Explain the likely cause and how to fix it.
Write an SQL query that [what it should return]. My tables and columns are below. Explain how the query works and suggest an index if it would make it faster:
Marketing
Write three versions of a social media post announcing [news] for [platform]. Make them engaging and add relevant hashtags.
Write a product description of [product] for an online store. Open with the main benefit, list five key features as bullet points and end with a reason to buy now. Use the words customers would search for.
Design
Write the interface text for [screen or feature]: the title, button labels, empty state, error messages and a success message. Keep every line short, friendly and clear about what happens next.
Create a color palette for [project] that feels [mood]. Give five colors with hex codes and say where each one should be used.
Images
A photorealistic image of [subject] in [setting], soft natural light, shallow depth of field, shot on a 50mm lens, highly detailed.
A modern app icon for [app idea], simple bold symbol, smooth gradient background, rounded square, no text.
The image templates are a single descriptive line, which is how image generators read best. For Midjourney's parameters, see the Midjourney prompt formula.
Write your own
- Start from a prompt that worked The best templates come from answers you were already happy with. Copy the prompt that produced one.
- Turn what changes into blanks Swap the specifics for short names in square brackets, such as
[product],[audience]or[deadline]. Keep each one to a few words. - Fix the format Add the length, the structure and the tone you want, so you never have to ask twice.
- Test it on something new Fill it in for a different case. If you had to add a sentence to get a good answer, that sentence belongs in the template.
Keep them on your keyboard
A template saved in a notes app is one more app to switch to. Prompt AI Keyboard keeps them in the keyboard itself, as presets, so they are there in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, your email or any other app you type in.
- Switch the AI key to presets Hold the AI key and choose
Insert a preset. - Pick a topic, then a preset Topics sit in the row above the keys, with their presets just below. Tap the AI key to see each one in full.
- Fill in the blanks The preset lands at your cursor and the keyboard jumps to the first blank. Type, tap
Next, and tapDoneafter the last one. - Send it, or improve it first Send it as it is, or switch the key back to
Enhance promptto tailor it for the AI you are using.
To add your own, open the app and go to Settings → Presets. After a rewrite you liked, the bookmark on the banner above the keys saves it as a preset. Built-in presets can be copied and edited, hidden, or pinned so they show first.
All 48 built-in presets come with every plan. The free plan keeps 10 presets of your own; Pro keeps up to 200 and lets you create your own topics. Inserting a preset works offline and never counts toward your daily AI uses.
Keep your best prompts one tap away
Presets come with 48 ready-made prompts in 13 languages, and they work in every app you type in.
FAQ
What is a prompt template?
A prompt you can reuse. The instructions stay the same and the parts that change are left as blanks in square brackets, such as [topic] or [audience], so you fill in a few words instead of writing the whole prompt again.
Do presets use my daily AI uses?
No. Inserting a preset types it for you, on your phone, so it also works offline. Only an AI action you run afterwards, such as Enhance, counts toward your daily uses.
Can I use these templates with any AI?
Yes. They are plain text, so they work in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and any other chat assistant. The image templates are written for image generators such as Midjourney, Ideogram or Firefly.
